WEDNESDAY 10th APRIL
2.00 p.m. Talk & short walk in CWM Y GLO  lead by Gareth Roberts followed by tea at Menter Fachwen. Cost £5 per head. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.15 p.m.

Wednesday 15th MAY
2.00 p.m.  Visit to the ancient church of  LLANFAGLAN,on the edge of the Menai Strait, near Y Foryd. Bring a picnic. Cost £2 per head. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.15 p.m.

WEDNESDAY 19th JUNE
2.00 p.m. Visit to the excavation at LLYS DORFIL, Blaenau Ffestiniog, led by Bill & Mary Jones. Short hillside walk from car park. Followed by buying your own refreshments at the Lakeside Café.
Cost £2 per head. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.00 p.m.

TUESDAY 16th JULY
A HISTORY of the NANTGWYNANT VALLEY: Noon – 5.00 p.m. Short guided hillside walks on the hour led by Margaret Dunn from Bryn Bedd, Nantgwynant, LL55 4NL. Bring a picnic, suitable shoes & waterproofs. 1 mile up a single track lane; limited parking so share cars.
Part of the CBA Festival of Archaeology. Cost £2 per head.

MONDAY 12th AUGUST
11.00  a.m.  PEBBLES  ON  THE  BEACH  – A geological walk on Criccieth beach led by Clive Hudson.
Meet at the east end of Criccieth promenade (next to Dylan’s Café). Walk is approx 2 miles–at a slow pace to examine the geology – to the headland of Craig Ddu (Black Rock), and return by the same route. Bring  a picnic lunch, strong footwear & clothing to cope with rain or sun.
Cost £2 per head.

THURSDAY 19th SEPTEMBER
2.00 p.m.  Guided  visit to PENARTH FAWR  medieval hall, Chwilog & then PENLAN INN,
an early Pwllheli townhouse, for a talk. Refreshments can be bought. Cost £2  per head. Bring a picnic.
Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.00 p.m.

2.00 p.m. Visit to the LLOYD GEORGE MUSEUM & HIGHGATE house, Llanystumdwy. Cost £5 per head. Bring a picnic. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.15 p.m.

TUESDAY 8th  MAY
THE GEOLOGY OF SNOWDONIA - a practical introduction. A walk on the slopes of Cnicht led by Clive Hudson. Meet at 10.00 a.m. in the roadside car park by Gelli Iago, Blaen Nanmor (NGR SH 632484) Suitable boots & waterproofs essential. From Nanmor we will follow the footpath to Llyn Llagi, then traverse across the hillside to return via Gelli Iago. Distance 6km (3.75m), about 1000ft of ascent, crossing hill slopes, boggy in places. Approx. 5hrs. Bring a picnic. Cost £3 per head. Contact Clive for more details 01766 770162

2.00 p.m. Visit to RHOS, MINFFORDD, a 1572 dendro-dated house, an inn site by the ancient crossing of Traeth Mawr. By kind permission of Mrs Nan Griffiths who will share some of its history with us. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.30 p.m. Bring indoor shoes.

THURSDAY 5th MAY
Harold Morris, local historian, will lead a visit to the mine workings at CWM CIPRWTH & GILFACH, Cwm Pennant. Wear walking boots, bring waterproofs & a picnic. Sorry, no dogs allowed. Meet at 10.30 a.m. at the parking place where the gate is on the bridge near the top of Cwm Pennant. (NGR SH 532477)

THURSDAY 2nd JUNE

2.00 p.m. visit to BRYN BEDD, NANTGWYNANT to enjoy the garden & for a short guided walk to illustrate the medieval origins of the landscape. Park at the house or at the corner 100 yds above it.

TUESDAY 12th JULY
2.00 p.m. Guided visit led by Bill Jones, local archaeologist & historian, to sites in Dolwyddelan including the excavations at TAI PENAMNEN, once home to ancestors of the Wynne family of Gwydir, and FFYNNON ELEN. Bring a picnic or retire to the Elen’s Castle Hotel for refreshments. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.15 p.m.

AUGUST NO MEETING

2.00 p.m. visit to EISTEDDFA, Pentrefelin, former home of Sir Tom Carey-Evans of whom we heard in a winter lecture. By kind permission of Bengy Carey-Evans. Meet at Beddgelert main car park at 1.15 p.m. Bring indoor shoes.

Welcome

This Society was established by a group of local people in 1996. A small committee of volunteers arranges monthly talks throughout the winter on a range of topics related in some way to the history of the area. During the summer months several visits are arranged to places of historical interest. A Welsh language lecture is held around 1st March each year. The A.G.M is held in late March each year.

Meetings are held in the Nantgwynant Community Hall [Unless otherwise stated ] at 7.30 p.m  and are followed by tea & biscuits
Admission £2. The Society's insurance policy offers public indemnity cover. All activities contain some hazards and those attending meetings are responsible for their own personal accident cover.
The society has a constitution and Equal opportunities & Environmental Policies, these can be obtained from the secretary.
The A.G.M Agenda will be circulated at the February meeting and to all on the new register of those attending meetings
